Having spent years of her life doing for others, Rachel Kabada doesn’t take for granted the opportunities she has to take time for herself. On these rare occasions, she turns to art, finding the peace and quiet that allow her to think, relax and create. This calm is the heartfelt gift she passes on to the women who wear her handmade jewellery, in the hope that it moves and empowers them too.
Rachel made Aliyah in 1984 at the age of 18, in the first waves of ‘Operation Moses’ - the covert evacuation of Ethiopian Jews from Sudan. Carrying her eldest daughter on her back, she left her home confident and without a second thought. The journey was challenging, but Rachel was full of motivation for her new life in Israel. After she had settled in, she completed a jewelry course and was employed as a jeweler for 20 years. Rachel has recently started out on her own as a jewelry designer.
