LEA (YUNGUS) DAGAN

Lea Dagan is as equally devoted to Israel as she is to her sculpting. Born in Ethiopia in 1969, it took 6 years of waiting to complete her Aliya. When she finally made it to her new homeland in 1990, she was keen to develop her talent for sculpting and art. After spending 2 years studying art at Beit Berl College, what began as a hobby in the village where she grew up turned into a career and she went on to teach elementary school art for 8 years.
Today Lea is married with 4 children. Although firmly settled in Israel, her art keeps her connected to her ancestors, culture, and the life and animals of Ethiopia. Through her sculptures, Lea allows us to truly appreciate the beauty of her birthplace.
